Camping at Horsethief Reservoir

For Bryce's birthday he wanted to go camping. So we packed up the whole house, or so it seemed and headed to the great outdoors. We left Thursday night and came home Saturday. We found a very nice camp site at the reservoir and set up our brand new tent. Grant was so excited to be camping. That first day we discovered that there were little tiny tree frogs all over the place. The boys were scared to touch them at first but they got over that quickly. Unfortunately Kent was a little rough with the frogs and a couple of them met at early demise. About 9:30 that evening we were roasting marshmallow's by the fire when a huge storm came through. We ran to the tent just in time for it to start pouring down rain. It stormed all night with thunder and lightning and of course tons of rain. Amazingly enough the boys slept through it all. Bryce and I on the other hand were up all night. Needless to say in the morning the boys were happy and wanting to play and we were not happy campers. Luckily the next day was warm and sunny. It just took an hour our so to hang everything out to dry and to soak up, as Bryce called it, Lake Belnap from the bottom of our tent. Then we were off to have some fun for the day.

We went swimming at the little boat ramp. The water was amazingly warm. We got to try out the new life vests that we got the boys. They thought they were great fun. Kent kind of freaked out when he would get deep enough to start floating. He couldn't figure out what was going on. We had fun splashing around.

Next we went fishing. On Grants little pole we just put a bobber without a hook. He loved to just throw it out and reel it in. We meet a really nice couple that were camping next to us. The boys took to them like they had known them there whole lives. We went fishing with them Saturday morning. Grant is helping her reel in a fish. It was so funny, Grant was so excited about going fishing until we actually caught one. Once the boys saw that fish flopping around on the ground they screamed and ran away. Grant said," I'm scared of the fishy". I caught only one fish, Bryce came close a couple of times but it always seemed to get away. Our camping neighbors had better luck then us. They caught 11 trout in the short time they were there. I guess some people have all of the luck.

Here are a couple of pictures of us hanging around the camp. The boys are cooking there hotdogs over the fire. They were a little crispy but they still ate them. I am cutting up catalope in the cooking area. overall it was a pretty good camping trip.

sounds like a fun time, we had a trip like that once, but our tent leaked all night long. Mia slept all night, but was soaking wet by morning.....fun memories! Cannot wait to see a post of our newest cousin. 5 weeks and counting it looks like. Hope all goes well!

I have been thinking about you guys lately. I haven't read your blog since you first did it and I couldn't remember the sight. I found it on the Jones' blog and went from there. I've spent all morning reading it. It's absolutly DARLING. I can't believe how fast your boys have grown up! we would love to get together with you guys again. It's a shame that it's been so long and you live so close. Congratulations on your pregnancy! That's awesome and so exciting. Keep up the posts! I love them.
